As you can guess by the name, sealants help to seal up weak spots in the gutters. Wherever miters, endcaps or downspouts have been connected to a gutter run, a sealant should be used. Any place that an installer has utilized a fastener to strengthen a gutter connection should be sealed up. This will ensure that no leaks form as the gutters age. It is important to use a sealant that can withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures so that it will not crack and lose its ability to properly protect your gutter system. At Pro, we use a terpolymer sealant that levels itself when it is hot and can endure the extremely frigid temperatures of Michigan winters.
Once the gutter runs have been measured, cut, and assembled, it is time to connect the run to your home. This is done utilizing gutter hangers. The type of gutter hanger used on your gutter system will directly impact the strength of the connection to your home. At Pro, we use forever hangers. These go in at an angle and create a connection so strong that it can withstand the weight of a full-grown adult hanging off your gutters. Though we don’t suggest you climb up there and test it out!
