What Are Dual-Pane Windows?
Our Pro Grade dual-pane replacement windows are distinguished by the two separate panes of glass glazed to the sash. Once placed in the frame, the two panes create an insulation space between them, which is typically filled with an argon or krypton gas that gives the window additional insulating properties by significantly improving thermal efficiency.
The gas is responsible for decreasing the convection currents between the glass as well as reducing the transfer of heat both from inside and outside the house. Further, the extra pane and the gas-filled space act as a sound damper thus eliminating noise transmission. This is paramount for homes or businesses located near airports, train transports, busy streets or highways and even those pesky, noisy neighbors.
Differences between Dual- and Triple-Pane Windows
If two panes of glass are an improvement over single pane windows then aren’t three panes even better? In some cases, the answer is a resounding yes, but there are some things to consider justifying the extra expense.
Triple pane windows have all the same benefits of dual pane windows with the following exceptions:
- Triple panes are more resistant to condensation
- Colder climates are prime candidates for triple panes to help reduce energy costs
- Triple panes increase the value of your home
- The extra layer of gas further reduces heat loss
There is No Comparison for Today’s Windows
Windows have come a long way from the single pane variety from as many as 40 years ago. Even windows from 20 years ago have been outpaced by modern advancements, vaulting the window from being just a piece of glass to comprising a staggering amount of technology. In addition to all the useful benefits new window technology provides, there is the pure feeling of luxury and comfort that comes from the reliability of windows that operate with such ease. Enhance the beauty and value of your home while enjoying the quiet comfort and protection of our dual-pane windows.
